The leaves are almost flirtatious, showing glimpses of their beet-red backsides underneath their ruffled edges. Their upper surfaces are frosted silver pink with dark venation and dark margins. They are semi-evergreen and attractive throughout the seasons. The greenish flowers are held in airy panicles.
