In spite of the fact that this blog has been ignored for far too long, we are busily adding to and updating the site. You will find new hostas, heleborus, heucheras, heucherellas, tiarellas and paeonias have been added, and continue to be added daily. If you have already placed your order and discover something new you would like to add, just drop us an email.
Betty and her good friend Willa Wick are hosting the Floral and Hardy booth at the Stratford Garden Fesival March 1 through March 4 so if you live in the area, they would be delighted to see you.
Last fall we installed two 5KW solar panels on our property. They have been happily generating on average, more energy than we consume with the excess sold to the power utility.
In order to improve the security of credit card information that you send to us, we have made changes in the checkout procedures. "Credit card" has been removed from the payment options. Select "Check" instead and in the notes area enter the 'Name on your car', Card type, and the first 12 digits of the card. Then click on the displayed link and it will take you to your email where you enter the last 4 digits and the expiry date. Then proceed to 'Submit My Order'. This way no one protocol has all of your information.
Did you know that we now have over 800 daylily cultivars on at half price.
If you have not had a chance to view our sales list it can be downloaded from Here . You can use it to browse and finalize your selections, then return to this site and place your order using the shopping cart.
Sorry, but because of the deep discounts, the only forms of payment accepted for sale items will be cash, cheque or Interac money transfer. For more information on Interac click here. We will continue to pay the shipping on orders of more than $100 before tax.

In my many years as an optometrist, when people asked me what I "did", I would always say I was both an Optometrist and an Optimist.
After my illness took from me the ability to practice, the "optimist" part remained. And who is more optimistic than a gardener. We all see the beauty in what is to be - in what can be. And we all take the joy of that future beauty in our minds and hearts when we plan our next wee bit of heaven in our next bit of garden.

Like many gardeners, and like all optimists, I tried to convince myself that any given zone 7 plant would LOVE it in my zone 4 raised beds. And I spent many hours with the anticipation of how beautiful something would be, only to sorrowfully collect little tombstone markers the following spring. The other obsession of mine is to save everything and make more of it. Cuttings and trimmings are hoarded and propagated - again the optimist. Years of practicing, fixing problems left their mark - I did not want other gardeners to also fall prey to the tender plant siren if they were not fully aware.
We now have a few newer passions - Hosta and Heuchera and more recently, Helleborus. So join with me in our passion for hardy plants and obsession for beauty. Did I mention we now have about 3200 registered Daylilies, plus about several thousand of our own seedlings, 450 hosta cultivars, and 138 heuchera cultivars. We also supply 2 great lines of metal markers. (more?)
